State Clears Luxury Recovery Home Following Death of Supermodel’s Son

California state regulators have officially closed their investigation into the upscale sober living facility where Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, died of a suspected overdose in September. The California Department of Health Care Services concluded its probe after determining that Resolutions Living was not violating any healthcare laws or providing unauthorized medical treatments. According to agency spokesperson Anthony Cava, no violations were found during the inquiry, effectively ending the matter.

The controversy began when advocacy leader Jennifer Turner filed a formal complaint shortly after Gerber’s passing. Turner expressed concerns that the Berkeley Street residence might have been crossing the legal line between simple sober housing and a licensed residential treatment center. Her complaint questioned whether staff members were improperly managing medications, monitoring withdrawals, or offering clinical detox services without the necessary state approvals. She specifically pointed to the facility’s own marketing materials, noting phrases like recovery program and individual recovery plans as evidence that they may have been pitching more than just a place to stay.

Under current state guidelines, facilities described as recovery residences do not require a license from the department provided they offer only housing and avoid practicing active addiction treatment on site. While Resolutions Living operates alongside a separate outpatient entity called Resolutions Therapeutic Services on Wilshire Boulevard, investigators found that these operations did not breach regulatory boundaries. This outcome highlights ongoing debates among reformers who argue that existing state regulations are riddled with loopholes and remain confusing for both operators and patients.

Psychologist Reza Nabavi, who founded both locations, did not respond to requests for comment regarding the findings of the investigation. Despite the detailed nature of the complaints regarding staffing levels and medical supervision, state officials ultimately ruled those allegations unsubstantiated. For now, the high end residence remains cleared of wrongdoing despite the tragic circumstances surrounding Gerber’s death at age twenty seven.
