Laundry Room Malfunction Sparks Early Morning Alarm at Local Care Home

1 min read

Residents of Vista Pine Haven Assisted Living were awakened early Tuesday morning when a fire alarm triggered an emergency response. The Pine Island Fire Department arrived on the scene around 2:15 a.m., rushing to investigate reports of a potential blaze within the facility. Upon entering the building, firefighters discovered smoke emanating from a second floor laundry room.

After a quick investigation, crews determined that a malfunctioning washing machine was the sole source of the smoke. Fortunately, the incident was contained quickly, and officials confirmed that the damage was limited strictly to the appliance itself. There were no secondary risks posed by the smoke, and most importantly, no residents or staff members suffered any injuries during the event.

The situation was handled efficiently thanks to a coordinated effort between local first responders and facility personnel. Members of the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office worked alongside Edenbrook Pine Haven staff to ensure everyone remained safe while firefighters secured the area. By 3 a.m., crews had cleared the scene and returned to their station, leaving the facility undisturbed for the remainder of the night.
