Closing the Gap on Unpaid Medical Bills Through New Data Partnership

Experian Health is expanding its reach into the complex world of medical billing by acquiring eInsights, a specialized technology firm focused on uncovering missed insurance coverage. While many hospitals attempt to verify insurance during a patient’s initial check-in, critical information often slips through the cracks or changes after treatment is completed. By integrating eInsights into its portfolio, Experian Health aims to create a seamless system that hunts for coverage throughout the entire patient journey rather than treating it as a single event at the front desk.

The acquisition brings a proven track record to Experian, as eInsights currently serves over 200 healthcare organizations across the United States. To date, the company has helped these providers recover more than 225 million dollars in reimbursements that would have otherwise been written off as losses. Beyond just recovering funds for hospitals, the technology plays a vital role in protecting patients from receiving expensive bills for services that their insurance policies should have actually covered.

Technologically, eInsights fills specific holes in the revenue cycle by identifying secondary coverage and retroactively spotting Medicaid eligibility long after a patient has left the facility. This capability allows providers to optimize benefit coordination and avoid common denial pitfalls related to filing deadlines. The industry has already taken notice of this effectiveness, with KLAS recently naming eInsights one of the top twenty emerging solutions for 2025.

Jason Considine, president of Experian Health, noted that finding insurance needs to be an ongoing process because coverage status is fluid. He emphasized that in an era where rising operational costs and regulatory hurdles are squeezing hospital margins, preventing revenue leakage is essential for financial survival. According to Considine, ensuring providers capture every dollar they are owed ultimately provides them with the stability necessary to maintain high standards of patient care.
